City University was founded in 1894 and awarded full university status in 1966. The University is currently host to more than 21400 students and 2100 staff from 156 countries. Within it, the School of Informatics hosts a key activity of research, education and technology transfer in computing where the majority of academic staff has been recognised as of international excellence by the national research assessments of 2007 and 2001. The school has a long standing record of participation in EU R&D projects including 11 projects over the last 5 years. Six of these projects (SECSE, GREDIA, PEPERS, SERENITY, S–CUBE and SLA@SOI) have been undertaken by the Software Engineering Group (SEG) in the School, i.e., the group participating in TrustASAP. Founded in 2000, the group is led by Professor George Spanoudakis and has 3 additional faculty members, 2 senior visiting staff and 8 researchers/PhD students. SEG has also attracted funding from national research councils, the industry and international organisations (e.g. UN–FAO). In the last 5 years, the group has been active in the area of service based systems engineering, software systems verification and software systems security and dependability. Within these areas, the group has particular expertise in web service discovery, service based systems design and adaptation and service trust. The group has also expertise in software system verification through static analysis and runtime verification with a special focus on security and dependability properties.
